Rapture Day: May 21, 2011

There’s a group announcing that May 21, 2011 is the Rapture Day. It isn’t just a solitary bearded old man carrying a placard, shouting “Repent for the Judgment Day is Near”. The group, led by Harold Camping, put an exact date on Rapture Day – May 21, 2011. And five months later, they say, would be the end of the world.

They put up signs in lots of places including a full page ad at Reader’s Digest. How did the guy know the exact date when the Bible clearly says that no one knows? Well, he claimed to have found the secret calculation. As revealed now, the initial secret calculation of September 6, 1994 was flawed because Christians were still here. Camping recalculated and is now dead sure that his math is correct. If he is still around on May 22, then he must have been left behind.

I grew up in an evangelical Christian Church where rapture is taught. I’d say I prefer the Pre-mil, pre-trib – rapture precedes tribulation. But only God knows exactly when.

Here’s an MTV I found in Youtube which briefly describe what rapture is.

Will you be left behind?

It seems as if another group has entered the billboard wars in Camping's/Family Radio's back yard of Oakland, CA. They are disputing Camping's claims with a compelling message of "Jesus is already here." Here's a short video about their billboard:

Well, looks like we're all still here. I never like criticizing other people's beliefs but if the Bible really holds all answers, then it is clear on it's answer when the end of days will be - only God knows
