Taking the High Road

I had not taken this road before. We were like cruising above rooftops plus a magnificent view of the city, and its enormous structures. I could see the skyline, left and right. It’s an amazing experience really. My first time.

I did not know the road existed in this bustling city. I usually traveled under it and suffered from heavy traffic. For the many times I’ve been here, it’s only now that I realized that it’s convenient taking the high roads.

But at what cost? P85 per entry, our driver said. What?! Expensive! I can only see a few cars ahead of us, and it’s tempting to run beyond 100kph, though we are to maintain a lower speed. “Two vehicles jumped over the rails and fell below. They ran too fast, sir.” the driver added.

Then my mind wandered back and forth, and thought of taking the high roads in life.

Had you taken it during rush hour, you'd say you're robbed of your P85. Grabe ang trapik. And it's supposed to be a premium highway.

during rush hours, or when it's raining, there's not much difference, pareho yang traffic. :)

Life is full of tradeoffs. High road (with toll) or low road (libre). Roads can also be lots of other choices we make. :)

Taking the high road may get you there faster, but you'll eventually miss out on the view...

zherwin, i was thinking na this skyway solves the traffic problem kung rush hours.

tutubi, i think there were some who went a 100km/hr. hanggang 60 lang kami at may nag overtake pa sa ami.

annamanila, you're right. the road less travelled is quite risky. and not all can endure travelling that one.

paolo, it's above the south highway.

singlguy, I enjoyed the view from the skyway. it's something new for me. I can't enjoy that if I were the driver.
