Winners and Losers

I promise. This will be my last post regarding this election.

I would like to congratulate a friend for winning (still unofficial but he’s leading by a comfortable margin) the vice-mayoralty race in this city where I presently reside. When I was still a freshman in high school and he a senior, I knew the guy would enter politics. It is in his blood.

The first time I heard of his name, I said to my classmates, “He’s a future politician”. Later on in college, he was very active in campus politics. Then he passed the bar and went on to run for a seat in the city council. Now on his last term as councilor, the administration party picked him to run as vice-mayor.

So far, his track record is excellent. I want to see him succeed, be the next mayor, rule for 3 terms, move up to congress, and perhaps become a governor.

Too bad I was registered in another city. That could have been another vote for him. But I was able to persuade my wife to vote for him.

I got this text message from a friend.

I did not only vote but volunteered in the quick count as well. I took these pictures at 12 midnight the other day. The young volunteers were still very enthusiastic in encoding the election returns. Encode, chika, text, coffee, encode. I'm not sure if they cared about who won or who lost.
I’ll be back there tonight and check how my 12 senate bets are doing.

oo nga, there are some people na bata pa lang, alam mo nang destined for politics. i know 2 people, elementary pa lang kami, mukhang pang-pulitika na e, and now theyre full-fledged politicians.. uh.. public servants.

hmmmm.. how do you volunteer for the quick count?

cess, di lang sya politician,he's a real public servant. Thanks for pointing that out.

philo bastard, i think Namfrel announced it months before election time. In our case, we are affiliated with an organization na palaging nagpadala ng volunteers.

That post about your young-politican friend sounds hopeful. Sana hwag macorrupt ng system. Thats why i prefer young idealistic people as a whole ... why i voted for trillanes.

Ang galing namin ng patawa ... chavit nasabit, pichay pinulot sa kangkungan, sotto nabulaga. The pinoy's funnybone talaga. Although i figured out 'pacquiao na-knock out" for myself when a bud asked me if he won.

Nagvolunteer ka pala sa Namfrel. Good. :)

Natawa ako sa forwarded messages. Ahahaha!

Cnu pala binoto mo for senator?

LOL on the text msgs! i'll let my Mom and Dad read that, i bet malingaw pud sila. kudos on volunteering for the quick count. :) musta na man cebu uy, i miss that place na. who's the new mayor?

j@y.com, the pinoys are very creative, and it shows in the text messages.

annamanila, you also voted for trillanes? he he. he's on my list too. talagang knock out si pacquiao. May pustahan din sa pagkatalo ni pacquiao.

Tin, twice na ako nakavolunteer. nakakalungkot din kasi some of those i voted did not do well, kagaya ni tol defensor.

carey, tommy is still the mayor of Cebu City. I think this will be his last term.

verns, pwede pa natin madagdagan. victor wood, boto inaanay. :)

gypsy, i voted for cesar montano. para naman may kapalit si tito sotto. he he. pero this election, nawala na ang drawing power ng mga celebrities.

abaniko, sana nga. tingnan lang natin when the time comes na mayor na sya.
